A quiet, tense air filled the air in FireClan as one by one, the ones who had survived the snake battle that had been bitten succumbed to the poison, and in turn the death toll on FireClan had been raising by at least one per day... and now finally, the last ones were being taken away from Emberstripe's den, their bodies being placed in the center of the camp as the cats who were about to leave in their dawn patrols took horrified glances at their dead clanmates before heading out. As Emberstripe instructed the cats helping with the moving of the fallen warriors, Kindlestar watched on, a blank look in her eyes as she saw Leafpaw being dragged away, the sight of a fallen apprentice always bringing a twinge of regret to her. Hearing pawsteps approaching her, Kindlestar turned her gaze, only to see her deputy padding towards her, an equally serious look on his face. Exchanging a glance, she turned her head back towards the moving of the bodies, and as the last one was taken out of Emberstripe's den, the medicine cat dismissed his helpers with gratitude in his voice before turning to Kindlestar, his head hanging in shame.
"Kindlestar..." Emberstripe began as he approached, not daring to stare at the leader's eyes.
"If this is an apology you are going to give me... don't. It is not your fault," Kindlestar mewed, her blank stare finally leaving the pile of bodies as she turned a much kinder look towards her medicine cat.
"If that were only true... but-"
"Cliffstalker is young and grief stricken. It is to be expected that he places misguided blame on someone in an attempt to cope with his loss. He cannot blame DawnClan this time... they had nothing to do with it, so instead he blames you. You did your best, Emberstripe. Oakpaw survived only because of your invaluable expertise," the ginger queen interrupted him, her voice growing a bit stronger as she half consoled and half reprimanded the medicine cat.
At these words, the medicine cat halfheartedly glanced up at the leader. Giving her a reluctant smile, he sighed, and turned around to stare at the bodies of his last patients. It was clear that Cliffstalker's reaction after Ashenwhite had died had taken an impact on the medicine cat, and Kindlestar couldn't blame him. There had been many deaths, but with how many bites the cats had taken, it had been a miracle those who had been bitten had survived so long at all. Despite herself, Kindlestar had actually been shocked to see Oakpaw come out of the nursery looking good as new. Pleased, but shocked none the less.
"So what do we do now, sunshine?" Twopelt asked Kindlestar, his mismatched eyes glancing down at his mate.
"We do all we can do... Put the bodies in the cooler shade under the snow to avoid their bodies getting bloated in the heat, and hopefully we can set a vigil for them tonight. We need an extra patrol in the evening to dig holes for the bodies too," she mewed, her eyes back on the bodies as she spoke.
"And what about the ones most affected?"
"We can't do much about them, now can we? We keep assessments going, as well as patrols... but give them time to mourn. The clan needs a bit of silence to honor the dead. After all... without them, we wouldn't be back home at all."

This is an assignment for
Due to the mass amount of deaths this time around, we are going to be having a time of mourning for cats. Those of you who have assessments that need to be done in order to progress on to your warrior stage will be given assessments, but for the most part, cats will all be placed in the same 'party'. The assignment will be considered complete with completed rps, written works [Must be two full paragraphs or more.], or drawn works, as always. Try to take advantage of having most members in the same party, though! Remember, when it comes to assignments, only rps made with members in the same party are considered valid for completion, so this assignment is done in an attempt to promote everyone getting together and getting to know each other's characters. 
For those of you under penalty, usual penalty rules apply. Rps are not considered valid, written works will be more strict, and drawn works should show effort! A blank background or half finished sketch will not be considered as a finished penalty. Remember, you need to draw more because you missed assignments before, this means that just because you need to draw more I will not be accepting less than I would for a single assignment.
Penalties
While clearing the dirt for the graves of your fallen comrades or helping move the bodies, you badly hurt your paws and claws. Because of this, you are now in Emberstripe's den recovering. With a bit of rest, you should be back to your feet in no time.

Assessments
Like others before you, you have finally reached that important age, the age where you prove your worth and show that you have what it takes to become a full fledged warrior! Remember, you need to follow your mentor's words. Mentors, for this assignment, you need to both hand in your usual work as well as let your apprentices know what they have to do to impress you and show you they are ready to become your equals in rank. Apprentices, your mentor's word is law. Follow what they tell you if you wish to succeed. ;D
As always, please leave a note on your assignment comments over what you wish your warrior name to be so that the ceremony can go through without a hitch. If I do not receive your warrior name, I cannot include you in the ceremony, so your character will have to pass another assessment to be eligible to become a warrior. Each divided group is considered its own patrol!

Mourning
A moment of silence is given to those who have fallen for us. We hunt, we patrol, and we live on as always, but we need to lean on each other now more than ever to get over this tragedy. How is your character behaving with all the sudden deaths? Are they indifferent? Are they deeply affected by this? Perhaps they are too young to understand? Let us know~
